Hi everyone,
After celebrating the big “100 issues of Not only Swift” milestone, I’m back with an issue full of amazing content. Seriously, reviewing the material and selecting the links that make it into the newsletter is one of the most inspiring parts of my week. And I don’t even include all of the cool stuff…
This week, we have two articles that look at a feature that didn’t get enough attention - ContentBuilders. Fatbobman and Artem explain how it works, analyse why it has a positive impact on your app’s build time, and how you can use it for non-view things as well.
In my job as a Firebase Developer Relations Engineer, I often get assigned support tickets for billing issues. Oftentimes, surprise bills are caused by infinite loops (like a Cloud Function that updates the document that just triggered it). But sometimes they are caused by other reasons. If you want to avoid surprise bills, you can use Google Cloud spend caps with Firebase. My colleague Jeff explains how to use them.
Once Summer is over, conference season will kick into high gear. I’m going to be at a couple of conferences in September, October, and November. Among others, I will run a workshop about Agentic Coding for iOS Developers (at iOSDevUK). One of the things we’ll be looking at is how to build a fleet of agents to build your app. This is how I’ve been building my own apps for the past couple of months, and it’s quite amazing. I’m going to share my learnings and best practices, and you’ll get the chance to try all of this out yourself.
I hope to see you at one of the conferences, hackathons, or meet-ups later this year - if you see me, say hi!
And now - get yourself a nice cuppa (or whichever beverage you prefer), and enjoy this issue!
As always, you can reach me by hitting reply - I read and respond to every email you send.
Thanks for reading,
Peter
